Hello, My name is Chiaki.
On this channel, I’ll be sharing tips on effective ways to learn English that can boost career development, as well as insights into my own growth as an independent professional.
This is the first time I’ve joined this initiative, ECD, English Challenge Day. I’m so delighted to be part of it because I don’t often have the chance to speak English outside of work. I’m very much excited to connect with like-minded people through this initiative.
Let me introduce myself today.
I’m a working mother of two very energetic boys—trust me, they keep me on my toes more than any work deadline ever did. I have over 20 years of experience as a government official, having spent a significant part of my career working in Kasumigaseki, a place famously known for its demanding and intense work environment.
Throughout my career, I’ve used English extensively and have navigated both challenges and occasional lost-in-translation moments that came with it.
When I was younger, I took great pride and fulfillment in my role as a public servant. My work allowed me to visit many countries, meet a wide range of people, and learn about different cultures, religions, and ethnic groups. These experiences have become a treasured part of my personal and professional growth.
Over time, however, I began to question the organization’s culture and working practices, which led to my decision to leave my job this coming September.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to hit the books and study English again – this time with a fresh perspective. So far I have juggled busy schedule while trying to improve my English. I really understand how challenging it can be.
That’s why I’m also passionate about supporting other women who are in the same boat- those who want to improve their English skills for career growth but struggle to find the time and the right approach. I hope to share what I’ve learned and create opportunities for more women to achieve their goals while balancing everything else in their lives.
Thank you for listening, and I’m definitely planning to stick around and continue to participate in ECD. Who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll even sound like a native speaker, or at least get closer!
