Today is February 22nd.
In Japan, it is known as “Shortcake Day.”
Do you know why?
On the calendar, the day above the 22nd is the 15th.
And 15 can be read as “ichi-go,” which means strawberry in Japanese.
Strawberries are on top of shortcake, so that’s how this day got its name.
But to be honest, I like cheesecake and chocolate cake more than shortcake.
Either way, I am still trying to find a good balance with sweets.
I want to enjoy my favorite desserts as much as I want, without feeling guilty.
Life is about balance.
