今日の英文
Today, I was thinking about how learning something can change the way we see the world.
When I am on a train, I often think of that time as just transportation.
But if I know even a little about the place I am passing through, the same scenery can look different.
A place I used to pass by without thinking can suddenly feel a little special when I learn that it has meaning.
In that way, knowledge can turn simple movement into something closer to sightseeing.
I think this is similar to studying English.
At first, an unfamiliar word just looks like letters on a page.
When I do not know the meaning, it can feel difficult or unrelated to me.
But once I learn the meaning, the word suddenly feels closer to me.
Also, when I learn the origin of an English word, the way I see it changes even more.
If I only memorize one word, I may forget it quickly.
But when I know what parts the word is made from, I can understand why it has that meaning.
Then, when I see a new word, I do not only think, “This is difficult.”
I can think, “Maybe I have seen this part before.”
So even with the same English word, knowing its origin can change memorization into a search for meaning.
Grammar may be the same.
When I see it only as a difficult rule, it feels hard.
But when I understand the way it works, the scenery changes a little.
Maybe learning does not always change the whole world.
Maybe it helps us notice things that we could not see before.
Even if we are on the same train, walking the same road, or looking at the same English word, what we see can change depending on what we know.
So I want to keep learning little by little, instead of ending with “I didn’t know.”
Just as transportation can become sightseeing, memorization can become learning with meaning.
When I think about it that way, both daily life and studying can become a little more interesting.
