Have you ever tried ostrich meat?
You know the ostrich, called "dacho" in Japanese—the world's largest bird that can't fly but runs faster than any other bird.
I'm talking about the ostrich today because I read a news story saying that ostrich meat can be a good alternative to beef.
According to the news, an ostrich farm in the U.S. supplies the meat to people who cannot eat beef.
Ostrich meat is in demand among some people, particularly those with a condition called alpha-gal syndrome, in which a tick bite triggers an allergy to mammalian meat such as beef.
The farmer wanted to provide them with the meat so that they could enjoy a taste similar to beef.
After reading it, I became really curious about what ostrich meat tastes like.
Does it really taste like beef?
When I looked it up online, I found many dishes using ostrich meat, such as ostrich burgers, ostrich shabu-shabu, and ostrich carpaccio.
Apparently, ostrich meat is high in protein and low in calories, making it nutritious and popular among health-conscious people.
The only concern is that it seems a little expensive because it's not widely available.

今日ダチョウについてお話しするのは、ダチョウ肉が牛肉の良い代替品になり得るというニュース記事を読んだからです。
そのニュースによると、アメリカのあるダチョウ牧場が、牛肉を食べられない人々にダチョウ肉を供給しているそうです。
ダチョウ肉は一部の人々の間で需要があり、特にα-gal症候群という、マダニに咬まれることで牛肉などの哺乳類の肉に対するアレルギーが引き起こされる病気を持つ人々に求められています。
