From Sleep to My Own Way of Well-Aging
Why do we need good sleep?
The goal is not simply to sleep longer or more deeply.
We wake up.
We receive the morning light.
We move our bodies.
We greet people.
We enjoy meals.
We talk with someone.
And at night, we sleep again.
Sleep does not exist separately from daily life. It is part of the rhythm of our entire 24-hour day.
Throughout this series, we have explored sleep duration and quality, morning light, daytime activity, the condition of the mind and body before bedtime, the sleeping environment, and ways of noticing changes in sleep.
But what matters most is not only how many hours we sleep.
When we wake up, do we feel there is something we want to do today?
Do we have enjoyment, a role, meaning, and connections with others?
Improving sleep means improving daily life.
And improving daily life can help us live in a way that feels true to ourselves.
Not only for prevention or health,
but so that at the end of the day we can say:
“Today was a good day.”
From sleep to my own way of Well-Aging.
